Room Battle is a new mode added in Mochi's first major update: you build a battle room, choose items and upgrades, and face rival rooms in automatic battles.
What is Room Battle?
Room Battle was added in Mochi's first major update on September 6, 2026. It is a brand-new gameplay mode where you build your own battle room, create item combinations, and battle against other rooms in automatic fights.
Each run can develop differently. You buy and place battle items, choose passives and ascensions, and adapt your strategy as the battles get harder.
How to start a run
A Room Battle run is built around your room setup: buy battle items, place them across the Hex board, and let your room fight rival rooms automatically. The official update describes it as "build your own battle room and watch your setup come to life in automatic battles."
The better your item combinations and upgrades, the further your build survives. There is no single correct way to build a room — experimenting with different combinations is the heart of the mode.
Hex board & item placement
Battle items are placed on a Hex-based board. The official update confirms Hex-based placement, drag-and-drop controls, multi-item selection, group movement, group selling, Storage, and clearer placement feedback to make building faster and easier.
Battle items & roles
Every battle item has its own stats, effects, cooldowns, footprint and role in your build. Items with different abilities and synergies combine into your strategy.
Shop & economy
As your run progresses it becomes more difficult, and managing your room's economy matters. The official update confirms spending Coins on new items, refreshing the Shop, and selling items you no longer need.
Passives & ascensions
Passives and Ascensions are upgrades you choose throughout a run. The official update says they "can completely change how your room performs," so each run develops differently depending on the choices you make.
Builds & synergies
Combine items, Passives, Ascensions and different synergies to create a unique build each run. The mode is designed around experimentation — try different strategies and discover powerful combinations.
Rival rooms & matchmaking
You face rival rooms that each have their own items, layouts and strategies, and battles become more challenging as you progress.
Mochi is still a small and growing community, so for now you may encounter BOTs more often than real players in matchmaking. BOTs fill matches so you can battle without waiting. Player-only matchmaking is the announced goal once the population supports it.
Watching battles & the battle log
Battles play out in real time. You can inspect items during combat, follow cooldowns and effects, and review the battle log to understand what happened.
Current balance status
Room Battle is still new and is being improved. Some items, builds and strategies may not be perfectly balanced yet — future balance and content updates are planned.
